About Us
Providence Baptist Church was organized in 1888 as the result of a “brush arbor” evangelistic meeting. The church is a member of the New River Baptist Association, the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and the Southern Baptist Convention.
We are governed by the membership, and answer to no hierarchy other than Holy Word of God and the leadership of The Holy Spirit using the process of democratic principles.
Providence Baptist Church seeks to live by “The Great Commission” as commanded to us by our Lord in Acts 28: 19-20. We are therefore mission minded in our programs, Bible based in our teachings and we proclaim the Lordship of Jesus Christ and Him only for the salvation of the individual. We therefore heartily support local, home and foreign missions. We believe the Holy Scriptures to be the inspired and living word of God given for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness.
We are a warm, caring fellowship based on God’s Word found in Acts 2: 42-43 devoting ourselves to scriptural teaching, continuous fellowship together, the breaking of bread, and to prayer.
The church practices the two ordinances as directed by God's Word, that of Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
We as a church offer organizations for all in a variety of weekly, monthly and annual activities. Our Sunday School program provides Bible study for all age groups. We have other Bible study groups both in place and emerging. Children’s programs offer Bible teaching for them as well.
As a church family we are grateful for those who have walked before in God’s wisdom and under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we are thankful for today and the opportunity it affords to minister in His name, and we look forward to tomorrow, seeking Gods wisdom and guidance to minister in His name.
